1. Moving to Pittsburgh

Before moving out to Pittsburgh I really didn’t know exactly what to expect from this city.  I actually have never been to Pittsburgh before going to school here, so it was a completely new place to me.  Although I do come from only an hour and a half from New York City and have a lot of family that lives in the Bronx and Mahopac.  So I feel like I did come prepared due to the fact that I am very used to New York City.  Little did I know Pittsburgh was a much smaller city then New York, but I am very happy about that.  So the first impression that I had of Pittsburgh wasn’t much of an impression at all, but NY did influence me on how city life might be.  I thought it might be fast paced with a lot of cars and taxi’s driving through and many people on the streets.  I also thought it would have more stuff downtown, and I definitely wasn’t expecting everything to close at like nine at night.  I saw Pittsburgh as a bigger city with more then just businessmen and women downtown all day.

I also got a lot of impressions from word of mouth from friends and family.  My best friend came to Pittsburgh many times because she is a huge Steelers fan and she was planning on going to the University of Pittsburgh.  She told me the city was nice and clean and that it didn’t really seem much like a city.  I actually found out everything she told me to be true about the city.  She also told me good places to get food and that everyone in and around Pittsburgh is a huge Steelers fan.  That came out to be so true; everyone here is crazy about the Steelers and is very team spirited.  Weather I found out true things or false facts about Pittsburgh, I can say that I am very happy that I live here.  It might not of been fully what I expected but I quickly got used to it and now I love it here.
